Bread + Butter
Bread + Butter, in the Umphreville Block, is located in the river valley neighbourhood of Riverdale. The bakery's interior was carefully considered to reflect the level of care and artistry that goes into the art of breadmaking.
bread + butter's space was designed on the notion of craftsmanship. The design priority was to showcase their amazing artisan breads, consequently, the wooden bread wall became the showpiece of the space. We designed a grid that allowed the bakers to change loaf size and type daily and provided a pastry counter with handcrafted cement tiles from Edmonton. Further reinforcing this notion of skill and artistry.
Reclaimed wood floors and CLT ceilings bring warmth to the space. The brick baseboards and handmade concrete fluted tiles, cast in brick tones, were chosen to reflect the industrial nature of the brick manufacturing that once took place in the Riverdale neighbourhood.
