Dogpatch is a bistro-pub, located in the Umphreville Block and river valley neighbourhood of Riverdale. Constructed using doweled-laminated timber (DLT) panels and featuring an industrial interior palette of brick and reclaimed wood. The main floor dining experience is stylish but approachable, and through the use of floor to ceiling windows feels connected the community and streetscape.
Upon entering the bistro, the visible structure and ductwork express a simplicity and honesty of construction. The integration of wood brings warmth, texture, and strength to the building and is a nod to the past industrious nature of the neighbourhood.
Dogpatch hosts local music and contains a large record collection, during the design phase the concept of a ceiling mounted marquee to display events was conceived as a backdrop for events and to frame the bar itself. The soft backlighting creates a moody effect in the evenings and allows neighbours to peek in at the interior happenings.
