Vignettes: Brick and Mortar 2021
A pop-up retail concept featuring local Edmonton designers, artists and brands.
Working alongside the Vignettes Team, holo-blok was a part of the Brick & Mortar Retail Showcase, in Edmonton, AB. Alongside a large cast of talented designers, artists, crafts, trades and brands, we were responsible for the overall base building coordination, code review, and visioning for a cafe & wine bar concept, including branding for the cafe.
The concept behind the design was to create a space that served both a grab-and-go breakfast cafe, as well as a more intimate setting for an evening wine bar. The architecture is used to highlight the various other artists and designers involved, with a key element being a large arched wall area with recessed murals referencing the clients rural roots.

Due to the very short timeline, holo-blok worked closely on site to help expedite the design and construction of the space, and find unique solutions as on site hurdles arised. (very hands on design and construction process)
It was both rewarding and refreshing to see the level of collaboration involved, and watch everyones individual craft come together to create a truly unique space.

The final product was an eclectic mix of style and craft, providing a unique space for Buongiorno and The Larder to test their new concepts. The space features a mural from local artist Michel Côté / ECKZ studioz, as well as furniture and lighting donated for the festival from local suppliers.
